Police Appeal for Information After Double Burglary

Falcon Locks, Locksmith for Rochdale and surrounding areas.

The Walk, Rochdale.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, following a burglary on both a bakery and a newsagents. The Manchester Evening News recently reported on the event that took place at some time between 4pm on Saturday 16th May and 3am on Monday 18th May this year.

The Sayers Bakery in The Walk and The Walk Newsagents next door, were both targeted in the double raid. The criminals forced entry into first the Newsagents via the rear storeroom door. On searching the inside of the premises and finding nothing of value, they then decided to try their luck at the Bakery next door.

By removing some bricks that separated the two businesses, they were able to climb through from the Newsagents into the Bakery next door but again found nothing of value. The burglars did however, turn off the freezers in the Bakery. This caused damage to the bakery’s stock. The would be thieves then left the scene the same way that they had entered.

Detective Constable Gill has stated ….

“This offender or offenders caused substantial damage to the buildings, going as far to break down a wall on the inside of the address in order to gain entry into the bakery.” “Fortunately they did not get away with anything, but that does not mean that we are not treating this seriously.” “If you were in the area over the weekend and think you may have seen someone acting suspiciously, do not hesitate to contact police.”

If you have any information that could assist the Police with their enquiries then please call Rochdale Police on 101 or alternatively you can anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
